Intellectual Property Attorney/Partner
About the Firm:
The firm is a highly specialised legal boutique dedicated to intellectual property litigation and counselling, focusing on complex matters involving patents, trade secrets, copyrights, trademarks, false advertising, and related contracts. It brings together attorneys with advanced technical backgrounds. Many holding science or engineering degrees, including doctorates, and extensive Big-Law litigation experience. This combination enables the firm to deliver strategic, insight-driven advocacy across industries such as software, communications, medical devices, and chemicals. The practice serves clients ranging from fast-moving startups to multinational corporations, offering Big-Law calibre expertise within a more agile, cost-effective model.
Responsibilities:
Manage and litigate intellectual property disputes, including patents, trade secrets, trademarks, copyrights, and unfair competition matters.
Draft, review, and respond to pleadings, motions, and discovery requests in federal and state courts.
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda, briefs, and other written advocacy documents.
Analyze complex technical and scientific information to support case strategy and expert witness preparation.
Collaborate with clients to develop and implement effective IP enforcement and defense strategies.
Advise on IP portfolio management, licensing, and protection strategies.
Participate in depositions, hearings, and trial preparation activities.
Candidate requirements:
Juris Doctor degree from a top-tier (Top 14) law school.
Extensive experience gained at a leading or elite law firm.
A minimum of 10 years of practice in intellectual property or complex litigation.
Demonstrated first-chair experience and/or a portable book of business.
Based in, or with the ability to work from, either the New York City area or the San Francisco Bay Area.
Admission to at least one U.S. state bar (patent bar admission is an asset but not required).
