Quality Assurance Inspector – San Diego, CA – Career Opportunity Job Description: The Quality Assurance Specialist ensures timely and effective implementation of company policies, procedures, and activities involved in assuring the quality of services and products for shipboard installations. This role focuses on inspection, compliance, and documentation for fiber optic and electrical cable assemblies installed aboard U.S. Navy vessels, in accordance with NAVSEA and MIL‑STD requirements. The role emphasizes maintaining product and service quality, identifying, solving, and preventing problems affecting service/product quality, maximizing productivity, and complying with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Support the development and compliance of Quality Assurance Work Procedures, Test Procedures, and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).

Review and ensure compliance with on‑site production Work Packages and Technical Work Documents (TWD).

Ensure the Quality Management System aligns with NAVSEA Standard Items and NAVSEA Technical Specifications.

Implement and administer Corrective Action and Preventive Action processes.

Conduct periodic internal audits and frequent surveillance inspections to maintain quality and safety standards.

Perform in‑process and final inspections of fiber optic and copper cable installations onboard Navy ships.

Conduct functional and continuity tests using OTDR, TDR, and other diagnostic tools.

Verify proper termination, labeling, and routing of cable assemblies.

Maintain and calibrate test equipment to ensure accuracy.

Compile and review test and inspection records for all completed tasks.

Prepare reports on nonconformance issues and corrective actions.

Maintain training and compliance records as required by contract.

Read, understand, and follow customer work item instructions, drawings, and routing diagrams.

Provide input for clear and concise work instructions to ensure compliance with specifications.

Capture and report Lessons Learned for continuous improvement.

Support the maintenance of test equipment and ensure proper setup and calibration.

Essential Skills

Quality assurance expertise

Blueprint reading

Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and specified test requirements

Ability to read, understand, and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams

Experience with Quality Management System in compliance with NAVSEA Standard Items and NAVSEA Technical Specifications

Additional Skills & Qualifications

3‑5 years of relevant experience working in ship repair onboard U.S. Navy ships

Experience installing, terminating, and testing fiber optic and copper multi‑pin and RF cable assemblies is a plus

Work Environment

Work will be performed both at shop facilities, various shipyards, and Navy bases as needed.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 – $34.00/hr.
