The Vermont Agency of Digital Services (ADS) is a dynamic, service-oriented agency responsible for overseeing and providing Information Technology services across state government. Led by a cabinet-level Secretary/CIO, ADS comprises five divisions: Security, Data and AI, Technology and Enterprise Service, Strategic Programs, and Finance. Our mission is to collaborate with state government partners to deliver simple and intuitive technology solutions that improve the lives of Vermonters. About the Role
We are seeking an experienced attorney to serve as the General Counsel II for ADS. As a key member of the senior executive leadership team, you will provide dedicated legal counsel to the ADS Secretary and State CIO, advising on all matters related to the agency's operations. Key Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive legal advice to the ADS Secretary and State CIO. Advise on technology contracting, agreements, and other relevant legal matters. Ensure compliance with state and ADS policies and procedures. Address legal issues related to open government, cybersecurity, breach matters, and vendor management. Serve as the legal advisor to the Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence Councils. Benefits

Member in good standing of the Vermont bar or eligible for admission by waiver. Minimum of five years of legal experience. Excellent client communication skills and ability to work collaboratively. Experience with Information Technology contracts, particularly SaaS/cloud-based services, is preferred. Strong understanding of state and ADS policies and procedures. Equal Opportunity Statement
