Job Description The Marketplace Cafe Attendant ensures quality service to all guests, prepares drinks and food orders, maintains table appearance, and keeps the restaurant spotless. The attendant adheres to all hotel rules and regulations, uniform codes, and standards, working continuously to create a smooth and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
General knowledge of cash handling and Point of Sale systems.
Maintain housekeeping standards for retail merchandise and Cafe food and beverage cleanliness.
Accurately check in retail merchandise and restock the cafe counter as needed.
Communicate effectively with customers face‑to‑face and over the phone.
Be available for flexible scheduling, including holidays, weekends, mornings, and evenings.
Understand basic kitchen equipment operation as it relates to the cafe counter.
Buss tables and follow setting standards.
Break down bus stations at shift end, including cleaning all work areas.
Clear courses after guests finish eating unless requested otherwise; remove unnecessary items from the table.
Assist baristas to ensure quality service.
Qualifications
Previous barista experience is preferred.
San Diego County Food Handlers Card and TIPS certification required prior to employment.
Experience in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment preferred.
Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and overnight.
Ability to communicate courteously, professionally, and politely is required.
Physical demands: Regular standing, walking, hand use, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; occasional climbing or balancing. May require talking, hearing, tasting, or smelling. Must lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly and push/pull up to 250 lbs occasionally. Vision requirements include close and distance vision with focus adjustment.
Pay Rate: $23.25/hr.
