National Membership Director

Position Overview The National Membership Director will lead Midtown’s membership sales acquisition and onboarding strategy across all clubs. This role is responsible for driving consistent sales performance, optimizing lead conversion through close management of sales ratio metrics, and ensuring an exceptional member journey that reflects Midtown’s brand promise. The right candidate will have a track record of building a culture where sales teams thrive through autonomy, mastery, and purpose. Reporting to the VP of Membership and Product, this leader will partner closely with Regional Sales Directors, Sales Managers, General Managers, and Marketing Teams to deliver growth and onboarding goals.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership & Strategy
Develop and execute a national membership strategy that balances performance with member‑centric values.
Set clear, inspiring standards for success, focusing on behaviors that create trust and long‑term relationships, not just transactions.
Use data as a compass, not a hammer, leveraging analytics to guide decisions while preserving a human‑centered approach.
Culture & Team Development
Build a healthy sales culture rooted in purpose‑driven performance, where teams understand the why behind Midtown’s mission.
Empower autonomy within clear frameworks, giving teams freedom to innovate while maintaining accountability for results.
Create pathways for mastery through continuous learning, coaching, and skill development beyond manufacturing sales, emphasizing consultative conversations and emotional intelligence.
Celebrate progress, not just outcomes, and recognize behaviors that align with Midtown’s values of better than yesterday, win together, glass half‑full, passionate about helping others, and kind.
Member Experience & Retention
Partner with Product and Operations teams to ensure seamless onboarding and engagement strategies.
Drive membership onboarding activities to ensure long‑term success of new members through high‑touch enrollment experiences.
Utilize HubSpot and analytics tools to forecast trends and inform strategy without losing sight of the human element.
Collaborate with Marketing to optimize lead generation and conversion through digital and in‑club channels.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Marketing, Operations, and Finance to align membership goals with overall business objectives.
Represent membership strategy in leadership meetings and contribute to company‑wide initiatives.
Qualifications
Proven experience in multi‑site membership sales leadership, preferably in luxury fitness, hospitality, or lifestyle brands.
Strong track record of driving acquisition, onboarding excellence, and retention of new enrollments through strategic planning and team development.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and coaching skills that inspire trust and accountability.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in CRM systems and data‑driven decision‑making.
Ability to travel regularly and work across diverse markets (up to 50% travel required).
Ability to give and receive coaching with the understanding that it’s through this process that we all grow.
Ability to give your very best work every day, understanding that the people all around you will too, and are counting on you for it.
Salary & Benefits Salary: Starting at $125,000, plus bonus potential. The actual compensation will depend on experience, and/or additional skills you bring to the table.
