Taylor Hopkinson is seeking a subject matter expert in transformers for a Director of Utility Sales for an international manufacturer of power equipment solutions, specializing in mid‑to‑large transformers, switchgear, and complete substation systems. The organization serves renewable energy, utility, and data center sectors and is committed to innovation and delivering high‑value technical solutions.
The ideal candidate will focus on defining and executing sales strategies, expanding market presence in the renewable, utility and data center space, and managing critical customer relationships in the utility‑scale transformer, switchgear and substation sectors. This is a senior individual‑contributor role with
no direct reports , ideal for a highly experienced sales professional looking to lead at a strategic level.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute U.S. sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets.
Identify and pursue new customer accounts, partnerships and channel opportunities across utilities, developers, EPCs and data centers.
Manage and strengthen relationships with existing strategic accounts, ensuring satisfaction, loyalty, and repeat business.
Provide market insights, competitor analysis and sales forecasting to guide decision‑making.
Collaborate with product, engineering and project teams to deliver technically and commercially optimised solutions.
Represent the company at industry events, trade shows and client meetings.
Serve as a senior strategic advisor for key commercial initiatives, supporting the broader sales organisation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Business or a related field (MBA preferred).
7+ years of experience in sales of power equipment, transformers, switchgear or substation solutions.
Proven success in utility‑scale market sales, with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
Strong technical understanding of power systems, renewable energy and data centre infrastructure.
Exceptional negotiation, relationship management and communication skills.
Self‑motivated, strategic thinker, capable of operating independently in a fast‑paced, global organisation.
Comfortable operating with limited structure and evolving processes.
Ability to wear multiple hats and work cross‑functionally.
High adaptability, agility and problem‑solving skills.
Strong ownership mindset and bias toward action.
Candidate must be located anywhere in the U.S. and willing to travel up to 50%.
