Associate Director of Research

Overview As a CBRE Associate Research Director, you will oversee the work of the NJ research team, collecting market intelligence and delivering actionable, valuable insights to local business leadership, sales professionals and clients. You will be an outgoing, articulate and dynamic research leader partnering in improving the platform, interacting with clients, and helping local sales professionals win business and drive revenue growth.
What You’ll Do
Regularly engage with market leaders and key brokers to gather feedback on research support at the point of sale and identify areas of improvement.
Participate in key pitch kickoff meetings and mobilize team resources based on the specific needs of pitches and pursuits, occasionally present to clients.
Engage confidently with clients and work collaboratively with the sales team to craft and deliver compelling market narratives during pitches and client presentations.
Lead local data efforts by maintaining and updating a proprietary database with real estate market data while ensuring data integrity.
Coordinate the delivery and updates of standard field research outputs such as quarterly figures reports, market stacks and skylines, market overviews.
Drive local thought leadership by analyzing and identifying real estate and economic trends and insights.
Responsible for hiring, budgeting, task delegation, project deadlines, and other team management responsibilities.
Provide formal supervision to individual employees within a single functional or operational area.
Plan and monitor staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepare and deliver performance appraisals for staff while mentoring team members.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Real Estate, Economics, Finance, Geography, and at least 6 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred.
6 years of experience in commercial real estate, including experience as a people manager.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing and delivering persuasive presentations.
Outgoing and capable of establishing relationships to enable collaboration and gathering market intelligence.
Ability to build trust and rapport internally with sales team and other internal and external partners.
Ability to respond to critical issues, exercise discretion and sound judgment.
Motivational and negotiation skills with key employees, top management, and client groups.
Expertise in the New Jersey real estate market and in-depth knowledge of commercial real estate terms and principles.
Advanced analytical quantitative skills with experience developing strategic solutions in a matrix‑based multi‑industry sales environment.
Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite. Comfortable using dashboard software such as Tableau or Power BI.
Knowledge of company research systems and internal and external information sources.

Compensation The minimum salary for this position is $130,000 annually and the maximum is $145,000 annually. Successful candidates will receive a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program. Benefits include 401(k), dental insurance, health insurance, life insurance, and vision insurance.
