Project Engineer I – Sustainability – Los Angeles, CA
Position Overview:
This position is bond‑eligible and is strictly limited to work associated with capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects as defined under the BuildLACCD Bond Program. Duties performed under this position shall not include routine maintenance, repair, or operational tasks that fall within the responsibilities of facilities Maintenance & Operations (M&O). The scope of this role is exclusively tied to bond‑eligible activities such as planning, design, construction, commissioning, and related project management functions necessary to deliver capital improvements consistent with LACCD’s Capital Construction Bond Program requirements and legal limitations governing bond fund expenditures.
Base Pay Range $91,000.00/yr - $95,000.00/yr
Minimum Required Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project or construction management of commercial and/or public or educational facility construction projects with values in excess of $15M
BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Business, Construction Management or related field required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design process
Duties
Provide technical and engineering support to the Project Managers and Construction Managers.
Coordinate with architect for timely and accurate responses to requests for information.
Responsible for the maintenance and distribution of current contract plans and specifications.
Confirm contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the contractor.
Make field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration/addition or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established College standards, and DSA requirements.
Document progress of construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration/addition or repair projects, logging photographs, daily project reports and notes as required.
Log and track status of project change order proposals, field orders, and approved change orders.
Maintain project files and record drawings.
Log and review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.
Assist in coordinating and recording minutes of meetings with project stakeholders.
Assist in review of submittal procedures, RFIs and monthly invoices.
Perform other project support duties as directed.
