Responsibilities
Lead Battery System Design: Own the design, development, and delivery of advanced battery systems (e.g., Li‑ion), ensuring compliance with performance, safety, quality, and cost requirements.
System Power Budget Management: Define system‑level power architecture and requirements, collaborating with mechanical, thermal, and software teams to optimize power consumption and delivery.
Design & Development: Architect battery systems including protection circuitry, battery management systems (BMS), charging systems, and thermal management. Responsibilities include schematic design, component selection, and creating detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Validation & Testing: Develop and execute design verification plans and functional test procedures. Perform battery safety assessments, failure analysis, and leverage test automation scripts for efficiency.
Collaboration & Supplier Management: Work closely with internal cross‑functional teams and external suppliers to define specifications, manage development for new product introduction (NPI), and support certification processes (e.g., CTIA/IEEE1725).
Issue Resolution: Analyze and resolve battery‑related issues during production and field deployment, ensuring timely corrective actions and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in battery technology development, power electronics design, and component qualification for senior‑level roles.
Skills: Proficiency in power system analysis tools, knowledge of industry safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508), and programming experience (e.g., Python for data analysis).
Location North Reading, MA
Salary Range $125,000 – $150,000
