In this role, you will work closely with a passionate and collaborative group of creatives. Our goal is to improve the overall look and feel of our website and enhance the online customer experience.
Overview of the Senior Digital Retoucher Role As part of West Elm's creative team, you will utilize your experience and retouching expertise as Senior Retoucher to execute all in‑house retouching and color correction – matching to product samples, stripping in backgrounds, adjusting lighting, tone, hues, etc. – to maintain the visual integrity of our assets across all marketing channels. Your communication, organization skills, and attention to detail will combine to deliver compelling imagery and enhance the overall brand aesthetic.
Responsibilities
Using Adobe Photoshop, perform complex image work to match product samples for color accuracy, balance mood and lighting in large sets of images shot by multiple teams in different settings and occasionally combine multiple exposures and replace large environments/backgrounds.
Compensate for imperfections in damaged or incorrect product samples (ie: removing scratches and dents, cloning missing hardware, adjusting/swapping fabric colors to match swatches, etc.)
Ensure color consistency across product collections.
Receive creative direction from Photographer, Post Manager, Studio Manager and Creative Director and implement any changes necessary.
Manage and develop daily/weekly workflows, prioritize and balance workload for team, provide status reports to management and cross‑functional partners.
Review current standards and practices against industry standards and recommend changes in order to stay up‑to‑date and optimize efficiency.
Maintain digital asset file organization, naming conventions, color space, crop, file size and other technical specifications.
Production of consistent, quality results in a timely manner.
On‑set quality assurance and color expert for all images.
Criteria
Expert with Photoshop on MacOS, proficient with all other Adobe Creative Cloud products.
Highly proficient in all aspects of digital image quality control and output. File size, light, color balance, color profiles and retouching.
5+ years of commercial retouching experience required.
Self‑sufficient and reliable.
Familiarity with all studio tools, lighting, technical software and systems.
Formal photography schooling; a four‑year degree is preferable in any of the following concentrations: Communication Arts, Photography, Fine Arts.
Ability to manage multiple deliverables concurrently.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; portfolio with before‑after examples.
Ability to perform work onsite in the Indistry City studio full–time.
