World Relief Sacramento VISTA Program Developer (LitMN)
Overview World Relief Sacramento’s Digital Literacy Capacity Building VISTA Project addresses barriers to education and employment faced by underserved individuals due to digital exclusion. The project aims to build long‑term capacity for culturally responsive digital literacy programming by developing curriculum, coordinating volunteers, and strengthening community partnerships. Key responsibilities include conducting a needs assessment, designing relevant and accessible learning materials, recruiting and training volunteers, and collaborating with community partners to expand access to training, equipment and connectivity. The VISTA project will also help establish tracking systems, identify funding sources, and support the creation of a digital literacy lab and virtual training infrastructure. Through mentorship and hands‑on experience, the member will gain skills in nonprofit program development, community engagement, and strategic planning. This project supports economic mobility, civic engagement, and community belonging by equipping individuals with essential digital skills for full participation in today’s society.
Member Duties
Conduct needs assessments by conducting focus groups and compiling a database of existing resources and gaps, including creating a multi‑year strategic plan.
Develop culturally responsive curriculum and resources such as digital literacy materials, pilot curricula, gather feedback, and develop trainings for staff and volunteers.
Oversee volunteer recruitment and training systems, including defining volunteer roles and recruitment plans, creating and piloting onboarding and training curriculum and processes, scheduling trainings, and establishing a feedback plan.
Build partnerships and coalitions by conducting stakeholder assessments and creating pilot initiatives with partners.
Evaluate and sustain the program by creating tracking systems, identifying funding sources, trialing training modules, gathering feedback, coordinating sustainability planning, and applying for funding.
Assist with locating housing through a local network where possible, provide transportation reimbursement for required driving, and supply necessary technology (computer and partial cell‑phone reimbursement).
