Propulsion Engineer – RCS Gas Systems (Lunar Transportation)

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. We are building sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. You will provide technical leadership to the Gas Systems team, supporting members of your team, advising on technical approaches, and bringing your experience to our most challenging technical problems.
You will be responsible for the vehicle’s RCS propulsion system—covering the complete life cycle from definition, interfaces, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation. You will plan component schedules, manage risks, develop mitigation plans, and work with internal and external suppliers to design, build, test, and analyze components that will take us to the moon. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program, playing a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond Earth.
Minimum Qualifications
B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
8+ years of experience in propulsion systems
Experience with the full engineering lifecycle of propulsion systems
Excellent fundamental understanding of propulsion system requirements
Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring
Excellent fundamental understanding of compressible flow and 1D flow analysis
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment
Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills with ability to directly interface with external parties including government and commercial entities
Familiar with either agile or waterfall project management
Willingness to work on‑site with occasional travel
Preferred Qualifications
M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related technical subject area
Systems Engineering experience, specifically requirements and interface definition, management and verification
Compensation CA applicants: $140,959.00‑$197,342.25 CO applicants: $129,611.00‑$181,454.70 WA applicants: $140,959.00‑$197,342.25
