Senior Project Manager – Rail & Transit
Join Mott MacDonald as a Senior Project Manager supporting rail & transit projects in the New York City Metro Area. Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management and development services firm with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Your role will be part of the Transportation team, delivering outcomes across rail assets such as NYCT, MNR, LIRR, PATH, Amtrak, and NJ Transit.
Responsibilities
Supervise a team of a resident engineer, office engineer and inspection staff for rail infrastructure and transit projects.
Apply comprehensive knowledge of construction, procurement and field engineering to the design and construction of rail projects.
Present constructability reviews to clients and direct planning of construction activities to meet critical milestones.
Determine and review budget estimates, staffing, workforce, materials and equipment to maximise efficiency and meet budget goals.
Identify project risks and take preventative action to keep milestones on time.
Prepare cost and risk analyses and extra‑work claims for the client.
Serve as the primary client liaison and maintain strong client relationship.
Ensure construction contractors comply with safety and quality assurance requirements.
Candidate Specification
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Professional Engineering License in New York State.
Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in infrastructure and/or transit, managing rail or transit projects.
Previous construction management and/or resident engineering experience with public transportation agencies.
Experience working on rail infrastructure projects in the NYC Metro Area.
Willingness to work weekends and extended hours as required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Pre‑employment and ongoing random drug testing.
