What this job involves: Join JLL as a Stationary Engineer supporting hospital facility operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant building performance. In this role, you will maintain and repair critical systems that directly support patient care - including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and medical gas systems. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe environment, optimizing building efficiency, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulatory standards such as NFPA, Joint Commission, CMS, and OSHA.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Operate, maintain, and repair hospital HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, fan coils, steam systems, and pneumatic controls.
Troubleshoot and maintain plumbing system s , including fixtures, pumps, hydronics, valves, and mechanical/pneumatic components.
Perform electrical maintenance and repairs, inspections, and testing while adhering to NFPA 70E standards.
Maintain and service medical gas and vacuum systems in accordance with EOC and Life Safety regulations.
Ensure compliance with applicable hospital facility codes and standards such as NFPA, Joint Commission, CDPH, CMS, and OSHA.
Perform general building maintenance, including patching, painting, and door equipment repairs.
Complete and maintain accurate work records, safety documentation ,
and preventive maintenance logs in compliance with facility policies.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Will need to join Local 39 Stationary Engineers Union.
Journeyman-level experience in facility or hospital engineering.
NFPA 70E certification (or ability to obtain).
Strong mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC troubleshooting skills.
Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, CMS, and Joint Commission compliance requirements.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment schematics.
Physically able to perform maintenance work including lifting, climbing, and confined space entry.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical or trade school certification in mechanical, electrical, or building systems.
Prior experience in hospital or healthcare facilities maintenance operations.
Knowledge of medical gas systems and environmental control requirements.
Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Additional certifications in HVAC, boiler operation, or facility safety plus.
Demonstrated commitment to energy efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement practices.
Location: Onsite - San Leandro, CA
Work Shift 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday
Estimated compensation for this position: 145,000.00 - 150,000.00 USD per year
