Essential Job Functions

Monitors general residential operations and child-placing agencies, documenting compliance or non-compliance, notifying providers, and ensuring risk mitigation. (30%)

Investigates complaints and allegations of minimum standard violations, completing investigations timely and accurately. (25%)

Evaluates new applications, processes permits, and documents decisions. (15%)

Identifies risk and coordinates enforcement referrals, processing provider plans of action and follow-up inspections. (10%)

Provides training and technical assistance to residential child‑care providers, including presentations and minimum standard trainings. (10%)

Responds to emergency complaints of high-risk situations. (5%)

Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications Valid driver’s license.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Knowledge of Texas laws and regulations.

Initial Screening Criteria Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university or equivalent experience; experience and education may substitute one another. Preferably with experience in regulatory services such as inspections and investigations.

Additional Experience for Inspector IV and V

Inspector IV: Experience as a regulatory inspector, performing complex inspections or investigations under limited supervision, establishing priorities, securing evidence, and assessing programs.

Inspector V: Experience as a regulatory inspector or investigator, advanced inspections under minimal supervision, leading or mentoring teams, testifying at hearings, and delivering specialized training.

Additional Information

Attend work regularly; hours may be flexible and include evenings and weekends.

Position may qualify for 100% telework with mobile technology.

Reliable transportation, valid Texas driver’s license, and insurance required.

Must pass background check, including criminal history and Texas Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.
