Summary

This position performs work requiring advanced knowledge which is predominantly intellectual in character and which routinely exercises discretion and judgment. The advanced knowledge is in a field of science or learning and gained through a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction, experience, and expertise acquired in the field. Scope

The purpose of this position is to provide the essential administrative processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This position has oversight of a specific area, and acts as a representative to the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This is the Lead position on assigned projects or performs engineering assignments of any complexity. Serves as Lead on assigned projects or engineering assignments of difficult complexity and develops the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work.

Performs and checks calculations, specifies equipment, and solves problems of difficult engineering complexity

Reviews specifications, drawings, and vendor equipment documentation from both within the discipline as well as from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements and actively seeks resolution

Serves as Supervising Lead providing guidance/supervision to other leads and functions as mentor to less experienced engineers

Monitors work done by Fluor offices or other designated entities performing Distributed Execution Engineering

Directs and oversee audits

Ensures adherence to Industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures

Actively participates in and promotes the use of Fluor’s Knowledge Community and other available resources

Participates in people development through mentoring, development of training material, and conducting of training seminars

Focuses on performance appraisal input and counseling

Develops and builds client relations

Provides close interface with, and promotes the understanding of, other discipline functions

Meets Company expectations for attendance

Other related duties/functions as assigned

Control Systems

Design, configure, and troubleshoot control systems design & interfaces for GE Series F & H compressors

Perform control system sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells and other instrumentation

Create instrument index and datasheets, generate reports, and monitor design wiring and loop development activities in Hexagon Smart® Instrumentation database

Develop complex control systems narrative specifications

Prepare complex instrument design and installation requirements

Develop complex control systems cause and effect diagrams, or logic diagrams as required by project

Represent control systems in model reviews; closely monitor 3D modeling prepared by the design group using review software

Review and audit specifications for Distributed Control Systems(DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applications

Monitor DCS/PLC/SIS design developed by the design group

Provide technical support during installation, startup, and maintenance phases.

Basic Job Requirements

Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and sixteen (16) years of work-related experience. A recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field. Some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements

Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors

Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job

Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local,state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

Professionalregistration and membership in technicalsociety (preferred)

Advanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials

Effort-hour estimating and staff forecasting

Managing and leading a large project

Project set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out

Practical field experience

Intermediate computer and software skillsto include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs

Other Job Requirements

Experience with F and H class GE turbines preferred, including design, configuration and troubleshooting of associated control systems & interfaces

Sixteen (16) years of control systems engineering experience

Experience working in an EPC environment

Experience designing and interfacing with GE Series F&H Compressors

Market Rate Statement: The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
