Under direction, to provide case management services to clients who are diagnosed with mental illnesses; and to perform related work as required. Sheriff's Detentions, Mental Health Case Management Clinician is a journey level class in the Sheriff's Detentions, Mental Health Clinician series. This is an unlicensed professional social worker class responsible for providing case management services to clients in custody convicted of crimes confined in a Sheriff's detention facility. Positions in this class are allocated to the San Diego Sheriff's Office. Positions are located at various facilities within the Sheriff's Detention network and the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital. Ideal Candidate

The department desires a candidate that can communicate effectively, is eager to learn, and is willing to work in a correctional facility environment. Pre-licensing and close to 3,000 work hours completed is ideal. Education and Experience

A Master's degree from an accredited graduate school, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related field AND Active registration with the California Department of Consumers Affairs, Board of Behavioral Science in one of the following: Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC). Condition of Employment

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment.
