Job Description Nemours Children’s Health is seeking a MRI Technologist (Full‑Time) to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware. The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance studies while providing a quality health‑care service that includes total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment. This position requires excellent communication skills due to continuous interaction with the public and professional/medical personnel. The MRI Technologist participates in departmental and hospital programs for quality assessment and improvement, identifies opportunities to improve services, makes recommendations and implements actions consistent with the goals of Nemours.

Responsible for working knowledge and operation of GE and Siemens MR 1.5 and 3.0 Tesla scanners and Advantage Windows workstation.

Knowledge of routine magnetic resonance imaging protocols and performing patient examinations as set forth in the protocol by the designated radiologist.

Provides accurate room preparation and instructions to patient/family according to the procedure, explains the imaging procedure, and answers pertinent procedural questions.

Responsible for the preparation, administration, and documentation of contrast media per departmental protocols under the direct supervision of a radiologist/physician; observes patient for allergic reaction after administration of contrast.

Responsible for screening patients to be imaged for contraindications that may be hazardous to their health or to the safety of others.

Assists radiologists by evaluating patients and obtaining written screening for administration of contrast media. Starts IVs and injects contrast material for imaging studies.

Maintains work habits consistent with hospital and departmental policies, reports unsafe conditions and incidents to the immediate supervisor, and demonstrates safe work habits. Operates hospital computer systems for patient data entry, retrieval, order entry and completion of study.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care with respect to the appropriate specific chronological age, developmental age or social maturity of the patient.

Must have the ability to work well with others. Aids in the training of new personnel, students and physicians.

Regular attendance is required; this position is considered essential for staffing during severe weather emergencies and other natural disasters.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, have reliable transportation and be able to work on an on‑call basis.

Job Requirements

Specialized (1 year of training beyond high school) required.

Must be ARRT, ARMRIT registered MRI technologist or ARRT registered/MRI board certified within 18 months of employment, or Associate/Bachelor Degree in Allied Health and certification with ARDMS or NMTCB required; recent graduate who has completed an MRI program with 6 months of supervised MRI clinical scanning experience must be registry eligible for ARRT, ARDMS or NMTCB and registered in the area of their program permits within the first 90 days probationary period of employment. If primary area certification is not MRI, MRI board certified within 18 months of employment is required.

Minimum of six (6) months experience required.

BLS from the American Heart Association required upon hire.

Pediatric MRI experience preferred.
