Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in the assigned department, the Senior Vocational Nurse performs a wide variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity. This includes prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparing and assisting with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, patient education, venipuncture, and IV access.

The Sr. LVN also assists with training and validation of competencies of Vocational Nurses and per diem Vocational Nurses, and other patient care support as required. Additionally, Sr. LVNs are assigned to more complex tasks, and provide patient education and staff training. Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize critical demands, and the ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Prioritize and assist in patient triage processing

Prepare and assist with patient examinations

Administer medications

Draw blood (phlebotomy)

Collect and prepare laboratory tests

Provide patient education

Perform venipuncture and IV access

Assist in training and validation of competency of Vocational Nurses and per diem Vocational Nurses

Provide staff training and education

Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - issued by the state of California.

BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

Two (2) years of relevant LVN experience.

Knowledge of universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.

Ability to take initiative, prioritize critical demands, exercise independent judgement and work in a team environment.

Must demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patient care.

Preferred Qualifications

Dermatology experience.

Experience with surgical wound site care.

Phlebotomy certified.

ACLS and/or ART.

Knowledge of PCIS, IDX, and EPIC computer systems.

Bilingual: English/Spanish.

General knowledge of pharmaceuticals and able to process PARs.

Proven ability to serve as a resource and effectively lead and mentor teams.

Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $74,980 - $93,229 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $35.91 - $44.65.
