Registered Nurse - 6th Floor Med/Surg Telemetry - Full Time 12 Hour Day Shift (Union) Be among the first 25 applicants.

As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team in providing safety, recovery and comfort for patients by implementing the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, developing the plan of care and education plan; implementation of interventions, evaluation of interventions and revision of plan as needed) and providing education and advocacy. Practices are in compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, DNV-GL/NIAHO standards, etc.

The Registered Nurse supports the department manager and director in quality improvement and growth of unit services; provides leadership in collaboration with co‑workers and other departments; manages efficient services with meaningful and valuable outcomes.

Decision‑Making Authority

Patient care within scope of practice.

Patient acuity based on patient classification decision‑making method.

Practice to the full extent of legal scope of practice based on education, training and competency; make judgments and decisions about patient care and act on assessments performed.

Provide a healing environment for recovery and safe passage of patients; prevent harm; educate patients about their condition and self‑care; report abnormal findings appropriately.

Executive Functions

Planning: Assist charge nurse with planning delivery of patient care for the shift; contribute to overall unit planning and improvement.

Directing: Precept new hires and validate competency; teach nursing students.

Delegating: Delegate tasks to other RNs, LVNs, CNAs.

Coordinating: Manage assigned team and communicate expectations.

Improvement: Provide information through chain of command and report unusual events.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Graduation from Registered Nurse Program.

BSN desired (if not upon hire, will obtain within 5 years).

1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred; experience with orthopaedic and stroke patient populations preferred.

Preferred Experience by Unit

Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses : 1 year nursing experience in ICU, step‑down or ER; 1+ year IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience.

6th Floor Med/Surg Employees : 2 years experience with orthopaedic and medical‑surgical nursing; certification in Medical‑Surgical, Orthopaedic or other specialty.

Required Licenses/Certifications

California Registered Nurse License.

Certification in clinical specialty or management desired.

Additional certifications:

Surgery: BLS, ACLS.

PACU/SDS/GI Lab: BLS, ACLS, PALS.

Cath Lab: BLS, ACLS.

ED: BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days), NIHSS (within 30 days), NRP (within 6 months), ENPC (within 12 months).

Geropsych: BLS, AB508 (within 30 days).

ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg and Float Pool: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days).

BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be AHA certified.

All certifications must be active effective date of hire/transfer unless otherwise indicated.

Compensation The hourly rate range for this position is $46.00 to $75.00.
