Base pay range $30.00/hr – $55.00/hr

Position Summary To provide audiological screening, assessment, and services in accordance with state and federal regulations of IDEA.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Coordinates audiological services for the Department of Student Evaluation and Support Services (SESS).

Provides services for early identification of auditory impairment and intervention.

Assists special education teachers in identifying, screening, and referring children with suspected hearing impairments.

Provides complete audiological evaluations including parent interviews, pure tone air and bone conduction tests, speech audiometry, and special audiological assessments.

Assists in procurement of audiological equipment.

Serves as a member of the Child Search Team.

Facilitates scheduling of Child Search screenings and evaluations for the Department of Student Evaluation and Support Services.

Provides follow‑up hearing‑aid evaluations after procurement of hearing aids and instruction on use of care of hearing aid.

Counsel parents regarding home assistance for the hearing impaired.

Provides audiological screening and evaluation search.

Services a small caseload of aural rehabilitation when assigned.

Conducts periodic audiological re‑evaluations as requested by SESS team members.

Serves as a consultant to multidisciplinary teams in providing audiological evaluations for referred children.

Provides technical assistance to classroom teachers for calibration of auditory training units for individual specifications (child’s auditory configuration).

Prepare reports and collects data for audiological services.

Facilitates SESS Professional Development Training based on monitoring results, data reviews, and staff requests and provides scheduled training for new SESS Team Members.

Cooperates with personnel of community agencies.

Attends assigned staff, professional, and interagency meetings in order to remain informed of new developments in the areas related to hearing and speech; and

Performs such other duties as may be required.

Education And Experience

Master’s degree required in Audiology. Certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) in Audiology, Louisiana State License in Audiology, state competent authority status or eligibility to meet such requirements.

Valid Louisiana Certificate

Other Knowledge, Skills, Or Abilities Required

Expertise to administer and interpret diagnostic techniques to be used with all types of exceptional children.

The ability to fulfill the responsibilities listed above and ability to communicate well through written language is required.

Must possess basic computer skills and demonstrate the ability to use various types of software programs.
