Responsibilities
Implement accurate, safe, patient‑centric anesthetic care.
Understand physiologic implications and anesthetic considerations of surgical procedures, constantly monitor vital signs, capnography, and pulse oximetry during anesthesia according to ASA guidelines.
Ensure appropriate documentation within the accordance of hospital and regulatory requirements and protect information of all forms, whether computer‑based, paper, film, voice, or other media from unauthorized access, modification, destruction or intentional or accidental disclosure.
Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior, professionalism, compassion, and commitment to patient care.
Continuously engage in projects that maintain and advance professional competency.
Provide exceptional patient care in collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons and other physicians to deliver anesthesia for medical and surgical procedures.
Serve as the focal professional for the continuity of care within scope of practice standards, as well as specialty‑specific standards to address and resolve problems that may arise.
Work as part of a core team of dedicated CRNAs who provide timely anesthetic and emergency care for patients in a 24/7 model.
Maintain flexible, non‑patterned schedule with in‑house call responsibilities including off‑shifts, weekends, and holidays; respond to emergency calls and provide anesthesia services within the hospital setting.
Qualifications Education:
Completion of a Certified Nurse Anesthetist Training Program graduate of a Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs. Current State of Connecticut Nursing License, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure in the State of Connecticut.
Experience:
Prefer clinical working experience as a CRNA within the given specialty/service line recommended, but none required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs, and CNMs are required to be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. Evidence of current competence to practice as an APRN, PA, CRNA or CNM via appropriate reference letters from physicians and other practitioners must be obtained during the Medical Staff appointment process.
Licensure:
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (AANA Certification), State of CT RN and APRN License, ACLS, DEA Registration and State of CT Controlled Substance Registration.
Special Skills:
Sharp concentration and focus, ability to stay calm under stressful conditions, communicate clearly with surgeons and the surgical support team, patients and families. Calm and reassuring manner to inspire trust. Immediate and responsive anesthetic patient management, flexibility and adaptability required.
Physical Demand:
Must demonstrate intellectual‑conceptual, integrative and quantitative abilities; skills in observation, communication and motor functions; mature behavioral and social attributes. Sensory acuity appropriate for monitoring alarms and equipment; functional vision and hearing. Must be able to observe patients accurately. Must be able to communicate effectively – speech, reading and writing. Must have sufficient motor function to stand for long periods, lift 25 pounds, reach above and below shoulder height, and negotiate patient care environments.
