Hardware & Gaming Platform Engineer – Validation & Debug
Lead system, silicon validation, and platform bring‑up for next‑generation gaming solutions. Work hands‑on in the lab with prototype CPUs, GPUs, and memory subsystems to ensure high performance, reliability, and smooth gaming experiences.
The Role Collaborate across silicon, firmware, and platform teams to debug complex issues and deliver robust solutions for gamers and developers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
System & Platform Leadership
Define and own system specifications for gaming platforms, including CPUs, GPUs, memory, I/0 adapters, and power management.
Lead cross‑functional teams through all phases of hardware development—from design and bring‑up to validation and production.
Coordinate with silicon, firmware, and platform teams to ensure feature alignment and timely delivery.
Silicon Debug & Validation
Own post‑silicon validation and debug for gaming and workstation boards.
Perform board‑level analysis: power sequencing, thermal testing, and signal integrity.
Use advanced lab tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers) for root‑cause analysis.
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for BIOS, drivers, silicon features, and OS certification.
Drive defect prioritization and resolution plans during SOC bring‑up and production phases.
Technical Innovation
Develop scripts and tools to automate hardware validation and improve test efficiency.
Engage in pre‑silicon emulation, simulation, and product engineering to ensure readiness for manufacturing and launch.
Customer & Partner Engagement
Collaborate with OEM/ODM partners on hardware integration and co‑validation.
Review platform designs against gaming workload requirements and optimize configurations.
Release & Delivery
Sign off on synchronized hardware releases for internal and external delivery.
Oversee test execution and debug leadership across multiple platforms and teams.
Required Tech Skills
Strong experience in silicon bring‑up and post‑silicon debug.
Hands‑on proficiency with lab equipment for electrical and thermal testing.
Deep knowledge of system architecture: x86 CPUs, GPUs, DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen5, and power management.
Familiarity with firmware flashing, BIOS configuration, and hardware validation methodologies.
Programming/scripting skills (Python, C/C++, Perl) for automation.
Understanding of pre‑silicon emulation, tape‑out processes, and manufacturing test.
Preferred Experience
Background in gaming platforms, high‑performance computing, or workstation hardware.
Expertise in SOC‑level validation, IP debug, and performance optimization.
Familiarity with Microsoft and Linux OS, virtualization (VMware, Xen), and certification processes.
Excellent communication and leadership skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
10+ years of industry experience, with at least 5 years focused on system or platform engineering and integration for gaming or high‑performance hardware.
