Description We are seeking a talented and self‑motivated Environmental Site Development Program Manager to support AWS globally. The successful candidate will join the AWS Environmental team, an expanding and dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS growth around the world, while ensuring regulatory compliance and the highest-level environmental performance of our data center operations. The role covers end‑to‑end environmental requirements and risk management from site selection through decommissioning, and requires a professional capable of managing complex, ambiguous audit initiatives across organizational boundaries.
Key job responsibilities
Ensure the Site Development program evolves to meet changing organizational needs, stakeholder expectations, and environmental challenges, and secure necessary resources and support for continuous improvement.
Collaborate with wider environmental, design, and real‑estate teams to perform reviews and updates needed to ensure the program remains relevant and effective.
Support ongoing identification and assessment of environmental risks across pre‑operational phases (site selection, due diligence, design, permitting). Develop and implement strategic plans to address significant risks and opportunities.
Oversee design and deployment of the program to enhance environmental performance and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Lead associated environmental development training and awareness programs to embed skills throughout the organization.
Establish and manage a robust system for monitoring, measuring, and reporting program performance. Conduct regular assessments of tools and processes, collate and analyze data, and present performance reports and recommendations to top management.
Drive continuous improvement by leading management reviews, implementing corrective and preventative actions, and identifying innovative approaches to improve performance.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other essential roles, collaborating across AWS to deliver safety, security, and capacity at the lowest cost.

Basic Qualifications
Experience developing and implementing environmental compliance programs, including regulated waste, water, and air regulations in accordance with applicable laws.
5+ years of experience serving as an environmental professional with solid regional or global environmental management or program experience in site development (due diligence, design, and permitting).
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in science, engineering, or a related field.
Experience with Environmental Management Systems, auditing, site development, and compliance management in cloud‑based infrastructure companies.
10+ years in a multinational company focused on site development program development, deployment, implementation, and verification.
Excellent communication, relationship building, influencing, negotiation, and coaching skills across multiple levels.
