ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING MANAGER Based out of Rocket Lab's Headquarters in Long Beach, CA the Manager is responsible for leading a team of highly skilled Additive Manufacturing Engineers and technicians in the development of new products and product revisions as related to both Rutherford and Archimedes engines. You will be responsible for production execution, overall equipment efficiency, and continuous development of the production processes for machined components. WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO: Lead and manage a team of direct and indirect reports within the machining team across multiple shifts Set the gold standard for the quality of machined parts Manage Additive production processes within a predefined area, and ensure safety at all times Resolve reoccurring non-conformance issues Review work instructions, and make recommendations when needed Identify and set-up training programs Continual optimization of machining processes for efficiency Collaborate between design and manufacturing engineering Coordinate repairs with the maintenance teams in a timely manner Manage capacity planning of equipment and personnel YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: 12+ years of experience in a machining environment 8+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment 5+ years of management and/or leadership experience with direct reports THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: 5+ years of experience in R&D or prototype environment Experience working with EOS, Nikon, AMCM, and DMG equipment – both LPBF and DED technologies. Strong toolpath and parameter understanding for LPBF Strong 5-Axis control and programming knowledge Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T symbols Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) Strong leadership skills Knowledge of Lean principles and Six Sigma Ability to adapt to constant changing work assignments and a fast-paced work environment ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods – 8 hours min Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and be able to maneuver in tight spaces WHAT TO EXPECT We’re on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that’s not an easy task.
