Job Description Coffman Engineers is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with ten to fifteen years of experience for our Orlando, Florida office. The role is challenging and rewarding, providing opportunities to work closely with our business development team and other discipline leaders in developing technical proposals. You will take a proactive role in marketing/business development, help build and mentor a dedicated team of engineering professionals, and work directly with clients providing consulting services.

Ideal candidates will have experience designing steel, concrete, and masonry commercial/institutional, federal, and industrial buildings in new and existing construction, as well as utility infrastructure, roadways, erosion control measures, and coordinating multifaceted projects. We seek innovative, results‑oriented individuals who value high standards of performance and collaborative teamwork.

Essential Engineering Skills and Functions

Perform structural analysis, design, and detailing for a variety of commercial and industrial projects.

Design steel, concrete, and masonry for new and existing commercial/institutional, federal, and industrial buildings.

Experience with light‑gauge steel and timber is a plus.

Strong ability to interpret technical drawings.

Lead design‑team efforts and manage project team for budget and schedule control.

Develop fee‑ and qualification‑based proposals.

Collaborate with architects, owners, and contractors to deliver high‑quality structural drawings.

Multi‑task and prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.

Possess strong critical thinking, organizational, and analytical abilities.

Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; understand database concepts and marketing databases.

Conduct marketing/business development activities.

Positive contributor to overall office and department culture and morale.

Ability to travel; work closely with other Coffman offices such as Raleigh and Atlanta structural groups.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

B.S. degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.

Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE).

10 to 15 years of structural engineering experience.

Experience with software such as RISA, AutoCAD, Revit, RamSS, ETABS, Enercalc, etc.

Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and time‑management skills.

Project management experience and/or certifications.

Desire to lead inter‑disciplinary projects and teams.

Local AHJ experience and relationships is a plus.

Active local industry involvement is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.

Paid overtime at time and a half.

Competitive end‑of‑year discretionary bonus based on company/team/personal performance.

Hybrid work schedule (subject to change).

401(k) with maximum 5% contribution matching for 9% employee contribution.
