Technical assessment interview

Responsibilities

Design and layout high-performance, high-reliability PCBs for aerospace applications.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software teams to ensure design requirements are met.

Create detailed schematics and layout using industry‑leading software (e.g., Altium Designer).

Adhere to industry standards and regulations in all manufacturing practices.

Maintain technical documentation for PCB layout and design.

Troubleshoot and resolve PCB design and layout issues.

Provide technical support to junior engineers and technicians.

Contribute to PCB/PCBA design reviews with DFM/DFA/DFT and value‑added design information.

Develop and maintain board eCAD design libraries, including part footprints and related information.

Demonstrate urgency, commitment, and focus on priorities.

Independently determine general approach and provide reliable solutions to technical problems.

Collaborate on PCB development process improvements (procedures and checklists).

Check quality of work of other layout resources, including internal and external resources.

Mentor internal layout resources on PCB layout and Altium best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

5‑7 years of PCB layout and design experience in aerospace and defense.

Certifications: CID (Certified Interconnect Designer), CIS (Certified IPC Specialists), CSE (Certified Standards Expert).

Strong understanding of digital, analog, mixed‑signal, and high‑speed layout.

Experience with Allegro, Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics, KiCad.

Ability to create detailed PCB layout design.

Familiarity with IPC‑6012 Class 3 and other industry standards.

Demonstrated use of PCB best practices for design, manufacturing, and testing.

High‑speed, impedance‑controlled, multi‑layer board layout design.

Fine‑pitch BGA routing, including microvias, blind‑buried vias.

Complex analog and digital signal routing.

Layout constraint management (trace length matching, spacing rules, etc.).

Multi‑rail power delivery and high‑speed signal integrity constraints.

Ability to create and maintain symbol/footprint libraries.

Professional relationships, inclusion, and culture contributions.

Attention to detail and task ownership.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment adaptability.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with stripline and microstrip design and fabrication.
