Main Purpose of the Customs Broker: Reporting to the Head of Trade Compliance & QHSE, the Import Customs Broker is responsible for ensuring compliant, efficient, and timely customs clearance of aircraft parts, tooling, and related materials imported into or exported from the United States. This role supports aviation operations by coordinating customs documentation, maintaining compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and aligning import/export practices with FAA, DOT, and BIS regulations. The role is critical in supporting AOG (Aircraft on Ground) operations where rapid customs clearance directly impacts fleet readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Customs Broker:

Ensure full customs and regulatory compliance by preparing and filing accurate import/export documentation in accordance with CBP, BIS, FAA, DOT, and ITAR/EAR regulations.

Provide expert guidance on HTSUS classifications and export control requirements, maintaining accurate and compliant audit trails.

Serve as a key contact with customs authorities and regulatory agencies regarding specific imports, repairs, and re-exports.

Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including AOG and scheduled maintenance, ensuring timely customs clearance and clear communication with logistics and maintenance teams.

Oversee customs clearance for temporary imports (bonded warehouse, ATA Carnet, or TIB) related to aircraft repair and overhaul.

Ensure prompt handling of AOG shipments, providing 24/7 support on a rotational or on-call basis when required.

Maintain accurate documentation and recordkeeping in compliance with CBP and FAA standards, supporting audits and reconciliation activities.

Support post-entry audits, CF-28/29 responses, duty drawback, and reconciliation filings.

Manage and update internal compliance systems, including audits, vendor documentation, permits, and licenses.

Collaborate with suppliers, freight partners, and internal teams to uphold compliance and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce clearance delays.

Deliver customs compliance training and promote continuous improvement across the logistics function.

To Be Considered for the Customs Broker:

Proven background in customs brokerage, aviation logistics, or aerospace import/export compliance.

Strong knowledge of aviation parts classification, temporary import bonds, and re-export controls.

Proficient in using ACE, AESDirect, FedEx Trade Networks, or similar customs and trade systems.

U.S. Customs Broker License required or currently in active pursuit.

Understanding of ITAR/EAR regulations; compliance certifications such as ECTI or CUSECO are highly desirable.

Familiarity with FAA airworthiness documentation and regulatory processes.

In-depth expertise in U.S. customs laws, HTS classification, and BIS/ITAR export control requirements.

Ability to perform effectively in high‑pressure, time‑sensitive AOG environments.

Exceptional attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and trade compliance databases.

Demonstrates regulatory precision, responsiveness, and strong analytical problem‑solving abilities.

Collaborative approach across supply chain, logistics, and MRO functions with a continuous improvement mindset.
