Overview Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Engineer or higher to join our Buildings Structural team in either the Lansing or Grand Rapids, MI offices. This position supports a hybrid work arrangement. As a Senior Engineer, you will develop strong client relationships, ensuring our designs enhance the health, welfare, safety, and comfort of building occupants. Projects include new construction, renovations, and repurposing—leveraging cost‑effective and sustainable practices.

Responsibilities

Independently apply knowledge of structural principles and practices in various assignments.

Prepare engineering calculations using computer software, spreadsheets, and hand calculation.

Create structural design plans and details in Revit.

Coordinate with architects, owners, and other engineering disciplines.

Design and review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.

Analyze and interpret data, formulate solutions, and solve problems.

Provide direction to structural engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.

Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.

Perform field investigations and site visits as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited university required.

7+ years of related structural engineering (buildings/architecture) experience required.

PE license required.

Intermediate skill level and understanding of Revit with willingness to progress toward an advanced level.

Extensive knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles, and practices in steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.

Basic/intermediate understanding of structural engineering software such as RISA, RAM, TEKLA, TEDDS, etc., with willingness to learn and become proficient.

Ability to read, write, and understand English for written job-related communications and verbal instructions.
