MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The QE must possess a BS degree in a technical discipline (Preferably Electrical Engineering), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certification to a Quality discipline and/or lean six sigma green belt is preferred.
ABOUT THE JOB! The purpose of the Quality Engineer is to develop, document, and train personnel to quality methodologies and analytical techniques to monitor the performance of Gentex product, purchased goods, and processes, and to focus on continual improvement efforts associated with each. Additionally the QE shall participate in efforts for sustainment and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) as required by ISO 9001 and AS 9100 standards.

Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Minimum 2 years of previous experience in quality concepts, metrics and problem solving methodologies; including supplier quality, manufacturing quality, internal auditing, SPC, Root Cause analysis, and COPQ reduction
Expert use of Microsoft Office suite in the generation of professional documents and reports.
Use of Minitab or equivalent statistical software packages is preferred
Lean/six-sigma experience desired
Strong background in testing and measurement methodologies
Proficiency in Continuous Improvement techniques
Knowledge in metrology techniques and outputs
Familiarity with LabView programming
Knowledge of computer controlled test equipment
Familiarity with flow and resistance testing for human respiratory products
Excellent oral & written communication skills
Team focused with the ability to lead and facilitate cross‑functional teams
Knowledge of Quality Management System standards such as ISO 9001 or AS 9100
Knowledge with Process Control tools, and statistical techniques to analyze and solve problems
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Continuous Improvement efforts in support of the QMS (ISO 9001 or AS 9100)
Optimize the development, analysis, and utilization of QMS data to support Continuous Improvement efforts and measurements of QMS effectiveness for management review
Coordinate and Lead Internal QMS audits
Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement teams
Lead root cause analysis & corrective action teams
Interface with customers and Design engineering to define & document acceptance criteria for quality plans, and insure their proper execution
Represent Quality in the New Product Development Process as required
Mentor and train quality personnel in QMS and Continuous Improvement efforts
