Description:
As an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer III, you will work within multi-discipline project teams to design and engineer I&C scope for diverse projects. Your responsibilities include leading and directing teams of I&C engineers, developing project scopes, budgets and schedules, reviewing documents for conformity and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and providing solutions for complex engineering issues.
Compensation:
$100,000 – $140,000. Annual salary may vary based on skills, experience, qualifications and internal equity.

Position Summary This role requires thorough knowledge of I&C engineering principles, ability to analyze data and develop solutions for complex technical issues, and capability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. You will prepare scopes of work, budgets, and provide input to project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Commit to health, safety and environmental standards.
Achieve project goals, deliver quality work, and meet schedules.
Support assembly of I&C engineering, drawing and construction work packages.
Participate in HAZOP and LOPA reviews under guidance.
Apply SIS design calculations with specialist support.
Select, size, and specify instrumentation and equipment.
Respond to construction RFIs.
Develop scope and technical specifications for I&C equipment.
Prepare material requisitions and evaluate vendor submittals.
Provide man‑hour estimates for proposals and cost estimates.
Attend client and project meetings.
Maintain schedule and budget commitments.
Ensure compliance with ISA, ANSI, ASME, API, NFPA standards.
Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
Job Requirements
Minimum 5+ years of I&C engineering experience in refinery or oil & gas industries.
Bachelor of Science in engineering or a scientific discipline from an ABET‑accredited program.
Skills and Technical Competence
Coordinate with other disciplines and project management.
Vendor and client coordination.
Budget and schedule management.
Strong verbal and written communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
Instrument specification and data sheet creation.
Smart Instrumentation and Smart Plant Instrumentation loop creation, spec sheet creation, and basic wiring.
Instrument sizing and selection (flow meters, thermowells, control valves).
Preferred Skills / Experience
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
On‑site refinery or similar industrial facility experience.
Experience with vendor sizing programs (Emerson, ASME PTC 19.3TW‑2016, InstruCalc).
Industry Requirements
RSO Safety Training and card or ability to obtain.
Client Safety Training and badge or ability to obtain.
TWIC Certification or ability to obtain.
Background screening.
Random drug and alcohol testing.
Travel Frequent travel to a nearby refinery site will be required.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Stand, walk, sit, reach, climb and balance occasionally.
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
Specific vision and hearing abilities required.
Overtime may be necessary.
Flexibility for client site or industrial jobs.
