Job Overview Under limited supervision, the consultant uses specialized knowledge and skills to serve as a resource to Financial Advisors and their clients regarding overall financial planning issues. This includes portfolio design, income tax consulting, retirement planning, qualified retirement plans, risk management, estate planning, education funding, and small business planning. Continuous education ensures up‑to‑date knowledge of the financial industry and markets.

Responsibilities

Partner with Financial Advisors to review clients’ current portfolio design, understand goals, enter data, and conduct financial analysis.

Evaluate overall retirement needs, research options, and recommend planning alternatives.

Research and recommend risk management and insurance solutions.

Design and recommend tailored financial plans that meet short and long‑term goals.

Prepare presentations that communicate recommendations and alternatives.

Perform detailed document reviews and develop comprehensive plans across the financial planning spectrum.

Write customized plan observations and recommendations for each client case.

Prepare files for meetings with existing and new clients.

Coordinate and follow through on client communication.

Continuously monitor clients’ financial situations with detail and accuracy.

Respond to client questions by telephone, email, and occasional personal visits.

Educate clients on securities markets and principal factors.

Provide guidance on estate planning options and techniques.

Address education funding questions, including 529 savings plans.

Assist with small business planning guidance.

Conduct research on income tax questions and other legal issues.

Participate in client presentations as needed.

Open, transfer, and close customer accounts and maintain records.

Enter orders and follow up on transaction completion.

Ensure firm and regulatory policies are followed within compliance standards.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years’ experience in the financial services industry with an emphasis on financial, retirement, and estate planning, or in marketing these services.

Or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses and Certifications

Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) required unless exempt.

Series 7.

Series 63, 65, and/or 66 as required by state or ability to obtain within six months.

Uniform Combined State Law Examination (S66) – FINRA.

Travel and Workstyle Less than 25% travel. Resident workstyle.
