Job Summary Somers Orthopedics is seeking a Surgical Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA). The Surgical Orthopedic Physician Assistant provides surgical and clinical support to orthopedic surgeons, including patient evaluation, assisting in procedures, and managing pre‑ and post‑operative care to ensure optimal musculoskeletal treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
Assist orthopedic surgeons in surgical procedures, including preoperative preparation and intraoperative support.
Conduct patient evaluations, take medical histories, and perform physical exams.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests (X‑rays, MRI, CT scans, labs).
Manage pre‑ and postoperative care, including wound care, rehabilitation guidance, and complication monitoring.
Educate patients and families on conditions, procedures, and recovery plans.
Document patient care accurately and maintain medical records.
Collaborate with surgical and healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Education & Training
State licensure to practice
2+ years' experience in Orthopedics preferred
Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication
Excellent attention to detail
Knowledge of diagnostic equipment and procedures
Good interpersonal skills
Critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills
Ability to move and manipulate patients
Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
Computer literacy
Salary Starting at $125,000 annually.
