Project Engineer – Food Manufacturing
Location:
Provo, UT (Relocation assistance available)
Compensation:
$125K – $175K base + bonus (based on experience and education)

Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Engineering in executing capital projects including equipment installation, plant expansions, and infrastructure upgrades
Create and update detailed CAD layouts, engineering schematics, and equipment documentation
Participate in the planning and execution of new packaging lines, automation systems, and facility modifications
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams during project implementation and installation
Draft, manage, and track project timelines, task lists, and technical documentation for engineering initiatives
Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for technical improvement
Support installation, commissioning, and validation of new or modified equipment and systems
Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and all food safety and quality standards
Serve as a key engineering documentation lead—managing as-built drawings, equipment manuals, and change control records
Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for technical issues in packaging, processing, or plant utilities
Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and QA teams to ensure smooth handoffs and sustainable improvements
Assist in vendor selection, bid evaluations, and equipment specification reviews
Support future facility expansions by contributing to design, planning, and on-site build phases
Requirements
BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or closely related field) is required
6–10+ years of experience in a food manufacturing environment is required, prefer experience with snacks, beverage, candy, or other high-speed packaging products
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and familiarity with process flow design and layout development
Experience supporting capital projects, especially packaging lines, automation, utilities, and facility upgrades
Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, OSHA, and food safety requirements
Familiarity with project management tools and documentation practices
Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently under the direction of engineering leadership
