The Operating Room Nurse Manager reports to the Director of Perioperative Services (or designee) and serves as the day-to-day leader for the operating room. Direct reports typically include charge nurses, registered nurses, surgical technologists, unit coordinators, and support staff, while the role partners closely with anesthesia leadership, surgeons, sterile processing, pre-op/PACU, materials management, and quality to achieve aligned goals. This cross‑functional partnership enables the Operating Room Nurse Manager to drive safe, efficient surgical throughput and an exceptional patient and physician experience.
As a key leader for a busy suite of operating rooms, the Operating Room Nurse Manager will guide a seasoned team of perioperative professionals across a broad case mix that may include general surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, women’s health, urology, ENT, and robotic procedures. Operationally, the role oversees staffing and scheduling in a 24/7 environment, resource allocation, equipment and supply stewardship, vendor relations, regulatory readiness (e.g., TJC), and performance improvement using data-driven methods.
