Job Summary Operates equipment and performs diagnostic and therapeutic CT procedures on patients according to established protocols to assist the physician in diagnosis and treatment. Follows policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA.

Key Accountabilities

Performs diagnostic computed tomography procedures by selecting correct exposure factors, algorithms, and scan fields while utilizing patient age and diagnosis to produce technically accurate cross‑sectional images.

Participates in complex invasive CT exams, assisting the radiologist using sterile technique and producing CT images to provide therapeutic and diagnostic services.

Starts, assesses, or injects intravenous contrast according to established protocols when required.

Practices radiation safety through shielding, correct exposure, and field sizes, adhering to radiation safety standards and protecting patients and staff.

Maintains CT equipment in good operating order, cleans and disinfects equipment and area after each use, and reports hazards or breakdowns.

Demonstrates annual competencies, knowledge, and behaviors to conduct examinations and meet patient needs.

Assesses physician’s order and patient requisition for completeness, reviewing requisition, lab results, and chart.

Documents pertinent patient and exam information and stores images on archive media.

Prepares examinations for interpretation, sets up films in PACS, inputs data in RIS to capture charges and information.

Performs and documents weekly quality assurance testing on equipment.

Works effectively as a team member within the department and other units.

Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students, maintaining policies and competency processes.

The preceding functions are examples of the work performed. Management reserves the right to add or modify duties.

Qualifications Guidelines Education Required

High school diploma or equivalent.

Graduate from AMA‑approved radiology program.

Registered with American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).

CT state license.

CPR certification may be required.

Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by licensure.

Desirable

At least three years’ experience as a radiological technologist.

ARRT Advanced CT Registry certification.

Associate’s or Applied Science degree in related field.

Knowledge

Working knowledge of radiological technology, anatomy, disease, and scientific principles.

Patient care standards and requirements.

Quality assurance principles and practices.

Customer service principles and practices.

OSHA principles and practices.

TJC standards of practice.

Skills & Abilities

Operate CT equipment.

Schedule, organize, and monitor patient flow.

Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff, and coworkers.

Venipuncture certification (where applicable).

Maintain confidentiality of patient records.

Organize and complete work according to workloads.

Read, interpret, and follow internal quality standards and government regulations.

Understand and follow specifications and instructions.

React calmly and effectively in emergencies.

Maintain basic life support (CPR) capability.

Special Conditions

May be required to cover ancillary offices as needed.

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens (OSHA Class 1).

May involve physical lifting and/or walking.

Compensation and Schedule Hourly wage range: $31.00 – $54.00 per hour.

Up to $10,000 sign‑on bonus may be offered to well‑qualified candidates.

Schedule: rotating Monday‑Friday 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM, every 6th weekend 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with on‑call and holiday rotation.
