Our Admissions Counselors are clinical professionals responsible for facilitating admissions, conducting clinical intake assessments and performing utilization review processes to ensure continuity of care for patients and appropriate resource utilization.
Responsibilities
Respond to inquiries about the facility within internal policy timeframes.
Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
Perform benefit eligibility checks to confirm patient benefits are active at the time of admission, and communicate eligibility to the business office and the patient or significant other.
Collaborate with facility medical and psychiatric personnel to recommend appropriate referrals.
Coordinate admission and transfer from referral sources and between levels of care within the facility.
Maintain knowledge of milieu management.
Communicate projected admissions to designated internal representatives promptly.
Ensure all clinical information from referral sources or patients (including medical comorbidity information) is received prior to admission.
Schedule and complete pre‑admission assessments, consult with the admitting physician, and communicate disposition recommendations to patients or their families.
Prepare and maintain medical record documentation that supports authorization for the requested level of care.
Complete initial pre‑authorization for treatment and admission prior to admission, within payor timeframe guidelines.
Admit patients in the registration and accounting system; complete all admission and consent forms with patients.
Demonstrate a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times; resolve complaints and prioritize patient safety.
Coordinate care for patients not being admitted and ensure appropriate follow‑up care and referrals.
Perform safety checks and ensure supervision at 15‑minute intervals or per individualized guidelines.
Execute other assigned duties as required.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in a social services field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN required.
One or more years of experience in mental/behavioral health working with individuals in a clinical or observational capacity preferred.
Current licensure, as required for the clinical specialty (e.g., RN license, CAC, or other counseling or therapy license).
CPR and de‑escalation/restraint certification required; training provided upon hire.
First aid certification may be required based on state or facility regulations.
Pay range: $30.44 to $35.29 per hour.
