Applicants may join the adjunct pool for assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters. Applicants must live within commuting distance to San Diego.
Major Responsibilities
Provide instruction in lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
Be available to students outside of class.
Deliver instruction following established curriculum and course outlines.
Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
Keep current knowledge of the subject matter.
Fulfill all part‑time faculty responsibilities.
Teach all scheduled classes.
Maintain accurate academic records.
Create an environment that encourages teaching, learning, and open discussion of ideas.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
Any Bachelor’s degree AND at least two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR Any Associate degree AND at least six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
Desired Qualifications
California Community College Instructor Credential in Computer Science or Computer and Related Technologies (valid for life).
Foreign degree evaluated by a NACES or ACEI member.
Required Documents Prior to Employment
Official transcripts (sealed).
Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam.
Fingerprints taken by Live Scan computer at the district's expense.
Original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
Pay information: For salary schedule, see here. Salary placement is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and, for instructors with advanced coursework, placement on the appropriate step of the Adjunct College Salary Schedule. Initial placement is at the first class/step until official transcripts are received.
