Sr Systems AI Engineer - New Glenn Advanced Upper Stage (Fixed Term) at Blue Origin. This is a 12-15 month fixed-term position with full benefits. We develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle with reusable first stage, designed to be human-capable. You will join a multidisciplinary team to define performance upgrades and production changes, supporting project management aspects including cost, schedule, technical design, risk & opportunity, certification, and change management. You will apply technical expertise, leadership, and a commitment to quality to support safe human spaceflight. Note : This is a fixed-term role with full benefits.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy end-to-end AI/ML pipelines (data ingestion, model training, deployment, monitoring) for advanced AI applications in scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, scope control, and agile/scrum program management. Understand data sources, manage data collection and pre-processing, labeling, and own data outputs. Develop LLM-integrated systems with memory and retrieval-augmented generation capabilities. Integrate AI models into production environments, optimizing performance and implementing CI/CD automation. Develop and coordinate production engineering changes, coordinating project schedules and incorporation plans for vehicle and production systems. Coordinate across engineering, production, supply chain, project management, and design to resolve non-conformances and ensure value engineering in decisions. Work with supply chain to ensure purchase requests and orders are fulfilled timely and develop associated metrics. Drive multi-functional studies to close risks threatening program cost and schedule. Coordinate with Responsible Engineers to develop strategic roadmaps for certification and qualification of designs. Help develop content for Blue Origin’s Weekly Business Review (WBR) and Program Management Review (PMR). Coordinate documentation for certification activities across subsystem Responsible Engineers and Technical Project Managers.

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. degree in Engineering or related technical field 10+ years of experience in launch system engineering development and/or operations Strong AI/ML foundation and software engineering skills or hands-on experience with LLMs and AI agent frameworks Experience leading system-level technical trade studies Demonstrated program/project management experience Passion for Blue Origin’s mission: Millions of people living and working in space

Preferred Qualifications

15+ years of experience in launch system engineering development and/or operations Master’s degree in engineering and/or Business Experience across fluids, mechanical, and structures engineering domains Ability to work with partially defined requirements and changing criteria Program Management Professional certification or related degree

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation ranges vary by location: CO applicants $129,611.00-$181,454.70; WA applicants $140,959.00-$197,342.25 Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with company match up to 5%, and Education Support Program Paid time off up to four weeks per year plus up to 14 company-paid holidays
