Job Summary Regulatory professional with extensive technical knowledge of rate design theory and practice in AEP’s state jurisdictions or external state jurisdictions. Must possess electric utility experience and detailed knowledge of industry activity and outcomes regarding cost of service and rate design associated with new technologies and recovery strategies. Demonstrates ability to perform detailed mathematical analysis and solve problems with limited guidance. Developed working knowledge of state or federal regulations, standards, codes, concepts, systems, docket research, and business processes. Communicates and coordinates work across multiple organizations to address complex problems and provide support for corporate, operating company, and business unit regulatory strategy development and coordination. Educates others on interrelationships between cost drivers and revenue.

Job Description What You’ll Do

Develop direct and rebuttal testimony for distribution with minimal supervision.

Research similar filings in prior cases/filings.

Work with assigned subject matter witnesses to assemble and file written testimony with the applicable public utility commission.

Influence the strategy of the organizational unit through testimony development.

Assemble, evaluate, and incorporate project costs and financial data (e.g., O&M and capital project costs) into testimony.

Respond to discovery requests and commission audits by evaluating questions, assembling responses, coordinating internal review, and filing via the system of record.

Conduct witness preparation for public hearings, including rebuttal testimony, case review, public hearing training, and documentation review.

Coordinate, review, and/or prepare annual compliance filings by understanding requirements, collaborating with subject matter experts, and meeting commission timelines.

Lead minor filings, conduct issues research and presentations, and manage special projects as assigned.

What We’re Looking For Education/Experience:

Regulatory Consultant Senior:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Geoscience, Mathematics, or a similar quantitative degree AND 4 years of related field, operations, or analytical experience.

Associate’s degree in a related field AND 8 years of related experience.

High School diploma or GED AND 10 years of related experience.

Regulatory Consultant Principal:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field AND 6 years of related experience.

Associate’s degree AND 10 years of related experience.

High School diploma or GED AND 12 years of related experience.

Additional qualifications:

Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Knowledge of AEP systems, such as Cognos, is a plus.

Ability to work under pressure and adhere to expedited deadlines.

Proficient oral and written communication skills, including articulating strategy and guiding witnesses on cases.

Analytical problem‑solving skills.

May be required to work mandatory on‑call requirements over weekends, holidays, or vacations to meet regulatory filing deadlines.

Occasional travel to hearings, stakeholder meetings, or training events is required.

Compensation Regulatory Consultant Senior (Grade 7): $86,783 – $108,481

Regulatory Consultant Principal (Grade 8): $98,032 – $127,439
