Base Pay Range $71,200.00/yr – $83,100.00/yr
Job Description As a Public Safety Supervisor for the second shift at our Hyde Park location, you will patrol the University of Chicago Medicine campus and manage day‑to‑day operations of the Public Safety Department. You must be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Essential Job Functions
Provide investigative services within the hospital.
Ensure Public Safety Officers (PSO) and Public Safety Coordinators (PSC) deliver timely assistance to patients, visitors, and employees.
Patrol the entire Medical Center on foot and inspect all public areas.
Check assigned areas for fire/safety hazards.
Provide escort services to employees and others upon request.
Assist patients and visitors as needed.
Represent the hospital in court when required.
Assist, in conjunction with the University Police Department, in investigations of all criminal and suspicious occurrences.
Perform duties of Public Safety Coordinator, dispatcher, or other assigned tasks.
Check incoming personnel and visitors after hours.
Perform individual post functions as set forth in Department Post Orders.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma.
Three years of supervisory experience.
Three to five years of experience in health‑care security, law enforcement, or a related field.
Complete IAHSS Basic Certification within 12 months of employment and IAHSS Supervisory Certificate within 18 months.
Basic computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets).
Basic knowledge of security access systems (on‑the‑job training provided).
Comprehensive knowledge of Medical Center layout, operations, departmental relationships, and policies and procedures.
