Our Data Center Engineering Operations team maintain and operate critical infrastructure systems so that they are prepared to stand up against any situation. Our Engineering Operations Technicians (EOT’s) help keep them that way by working with the brightest minds from around the globe to test and implement the newest technology and work practices to meet the demands of a changing market.
EOT’s are Amazon’s front‑line responders for hands‑on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand‑by diesel generators, switchgear, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFD’s, and building automation systems.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.
Key job responsibilities
Oversee the day‑to‑day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in a data center.
Operate independently with limited direct management.
Act as an escalation point for all facilities‑related issues within the data center, escalating to the Chief Engineer and Data Center Regional Manager as needed.
Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
Troubleshoot and report facility and data‑center level events within internal SLA.
Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operation Technicians and vendor support teams.
Ensure all safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff.
Utilize internal CMMS to manage building workflows.
Communicate complex technical information to a non‑technical audience.
Fully comply with all physical security procedures and policies.
Respond to off‑hour emergency calls related to data centers and help investigate, mitigate, and recover the issue(s).
Lift up to 40 lbs and work in elevated locations.
Work in an environment that operates 24/7 with the ability to provide after‑hours support as needed.
Respond off hours to site events and emergency issues.
Basic Qualifications
2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience, or 2+ years of data center or mission‑critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military, public safety).
2+ years of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience.
High school or equivalent diploma.
Preferred Qualifications
4+ years of data center engineering or operations experience.
Associate’s degree or higher, or Bachelor's degree.

The base salary range for this position is Colorado $75,900 – $132,800 annually. Final compensation will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
