ModMed is hiring a driven

Software Engineer 2

to join our positive, passionate, and high-performing Product Development team focused on designing and developing cutting-edge healthcare software systems. In this role, you will design, build, document, test, and debug software applications—whether cloud-hosted or in-house—leveraging React.js, PHP, and associated development technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced Healthcare IT company that is truly Modernizing Medicine!

Your Role:

Work within an agile, cross-functional team to deliver organizational objectives

Develop user-facing features using React.js and related libraries (e.g., Redux, React Router, Zustand, Recoil)

Make sound design decisions and tradeoffs within the codebase

Contribute across the codebase with minimal guidance

Build reusable, efficient, and scalable components and front-end libraries

Translate UI/UX wireframes into responsive, high-quality code

Use user empathy to inform design and development decisions

Collaborate with QA and advise on regression risks

Proactively fix issues and address technical debt

Ensure cross-browser compatibility and consistent visual design

Optimize applications for performance and scalability

Identify and resolve bugs, performance issues, and UI inconsistencies

Communicate effectively across teams and functions

Proactively identify risks and raise issues early to support course correction

Own and deliver complex tasks end-to-end with minimal guidance

Navigate roadblocks efficiently and collaborate when needed

Produce accurate estimates and deliver high-quality work on schedule

Skills & Requirements:

Minimum 3 years of professional web development experience

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

Strong proficiency in React.js and related libraries (Redux, React Router, Zustand, Recoil)

Expertise in PHP and frameworks like Laravel or Symfony; experience with Perl or Python a plus

Solid understanding of web standards, APIs, REST, XML, and JSON

Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (MySQL preferred)

Effective communicator with strong collaboration skills

Strong problem-solving abilities; adaptable, proactive, and ownership-driven

Commitment to code quality, architecture, and documentation

Experience with Agile methodologies a plus

Familiarity with design patterns a plus
