Summary:

The Application Engineer provides technical sales support and product selection, pricing, and quotation support for our Turbo Gears used in Power Generation, Oil & Gas as well as growth fields such as hydrogen and electrification. This position requires an understanding of primary mechanical power transmission engineering design and application knowledge for turbines, compressor and pump drive lines. The Application Engineer is part of the global Sales Support team and will be supported by experts from the factory in Germany.

Responsibilities:

Support the local Sales Organization in North America in processing customer projects.

Analyze customers’ technical requirements (specifications), conduct feasibility checks; translate project requirements into costing and customer offers.

Make initial product selections which meet the customer drive specifications using Voith selection and pricing tools.

Support our outside sales staff with technical support during the offer phase e.g. for technical clarification meetings.

Once customer order is received, prepare handover documentation to the order execution team in the factory and conduct the handover.

Contribute to continuous improvement of tools and processes and implementation of individual improvement initiatives.

National and International travel required

Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply or propose to supply to company as part of the overall drive package (heat exchanger, connection couplings, base frames, etc.).

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Engineering degree from a four-year accredited college or university.

Experience in the drive system design & engineering with regards to the following:

High speed rotating equipment (general).

High speed gearboxes, speed increasers & speed reducers.

Centrifugal compressors.

Centrifugal pumps & fans.

Demonstrate effective communication & collaboration teamwork skills.

Ability to multi-task based on business needs.

Hybrid work possible; work in the Houston office is expected.
