Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a Hypersonics Programs Lead Software Engineer! We need an experienced Embedded Software developer to lead all aspects of our Hypersonic Systems Guidance, Navigation, and Control software development. Primary Responsibilities

Directly code and coordinate software efforts across multiple programs including embedded software, ground support, test equipment, software in loop (SIL) and hardware in loop (HIL) simulators.

Develop embedded software and firmware for hypersonic programs.

Work with engineering teams to design, develop, and integrate space sensor hardware and software including electronics, FPGA boards, DSP/ARM/PowerPC boards, PCI & VPX buses, health, status circuits, and sensor data interfaces.

Take part or lead all phases of software development including detailed requirements, trade studies, architecture design, hardware selection, firmware, software, sensor and payload integration and testing, hypersonic vehicle I&T.

Collaborate with signal processing experts, other software leads, and FPGA designers.

Mentor junior software engineers in good engineering practice.

Integrate CI/CD via Jenkins, GitLab runners, and others.

Execute security testing to find vulnerabilities and static code analysis.

Support test automation using Python, Java, Xray for Jira or similar tools.

Model system performance with MATLAB or similar tools.

Debug using strong skills to identify software defects systematically.

Document software architecture and models.

Communicate with cross-functional teams and report progress and results.

Resolve complicated testing issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's in software engineering, computer science, or related field from ABET accredited institution.

8+ years of software engineering or a Master with 6+ years of experience. Extra experience may replace degree.

US Citizenship with ability to secure DoD Secret clearance.

Languages: Python, Java, Rust, C and C++ with code maintenance.

Leadership in engineering teams.

Version control with GitLab, SVN, branch structures.

Agile/Scrum knowledge and practice.

Architecture documentation for software models.

Analytical problem solving for testing challenges.

Security testing familiarity and static code analysis.

Multiple OS experience MacOS, Windows, Linux, etc.

Office suite proficiency and collaborative communication.

US Citizenship mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

DoD Secret clearance or above

Pay Range: $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
