Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a
Senior MAP Flightline Engineer
to join our Engineering department based in Mobile, AL. In this position you will have a unique opportunity to be as close as possible to the physical Aircraft and deeply involved through the complete Aircraft design, build, test process and Aircraft operations. The MAP III Flightline position is responsible to develop solutions related to aircraft non-conformities which require engineering expertise and delegation to be resolved during aircraft flight line and delivery activities.

Responsibilities
Accountable for design engineering activities in aircraft systems (Aircraft Control & Monitoring, Avionics, power & Mechanical systems, Powerplant).
Create and authorize technical solutions, including justification reports for repairs, reworks or design updates.
Define technical solutions during NC treatment for metallic and composite structures covering all Airframe ATA chapters linked to structure design.
Accountability for approved repair, rework, and troubleshooting instructions and for design update solutions in front of design/stress offices and authorities (TC/FAA).
Act as an interface between the A220 Family Chief Engineer / Design office and Manufacturing/Quality Assurance (Operations).
Provide engineering support to the FAL US during the complete manufacturing process from delivery of sections to flightline activities, including engineering presentations to internal and external customers.
Create and authorize temporary aircraft definitions (special instructions) in line with design and airworthiness requirements for testing.
Develop and monitor design corrective actions / improvements and preventive measures to drive product improvements or non-conformity eradication.
Present technical explanations / corrective actions to the flight test department and to customers if required.
Perform other duties as assigned and adapted to the FAL requirements.
Assign, coordinate and review the technical work of the mentee.
Non-conformities (NCs) are written by production/quality departments or Flight Test Engineers during assembly, inspection, or production flights.
Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or aircraft construction engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
9+ years relevant experience in an engineering, M.E. or engineering coordination role.
Experience in structure design (composite/carbon fiber and metallic).
Experience in design office (design or stress) of aircraft structures (Airframe).
Knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance justification.
Knowledge of stress calculations / justifications.
Knowledge of aeronautical materials and corrosion protection.
Knowledge of repair design and stress principles.
Knowledge of aircraft configuration management rules.
Knowledge of Airbus internal procedures, processes and tools.
Experience with Airbus manuals (Structure Repair Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalog, etc.).
Demonstrated success in identifying and solving problems.
Willing to travel up to 15% of the time overseas and domestically within the Airbus international network, supplier and customer sites.
