Position Summary This position is for an experienced Lead Systems Engineer to lead development, integration, and sustainment of Battery Management Systems for Aerospace. You will play a critical role in the architecture, design, implementation, and operations of the Battery Management System. You will be regularly tasked to provide technical guidance on the project as well as the technical customer interface. You will be leading involved with the engineering and operation teams during the design and the integration phase BMS, to ensure schedule and build compliances are met.

In this role you will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, build, test, qualification, and operation. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Responsibilities

Define and manage system requirements and interfaces for Battery Management Systems.

Support the full systems engineering lifecycle, including design trade studies, integration, verification, and validation.

Develop interface control documents (ICDs), systems specifications, and test plans.

Coordinate with hardware and software engineers, program management, customers, and subcontractors.

Apply knowledge in thermal analysis and battery management requirements.

Apply knowledge of various DoD standards for aerospace.

Troubleshoot system‑level issues and support root cause analysis during integration and operations.

Assist in performing thermal analysis, power analysis, and requirement verification.

Lead the technical team on proposal efforts, JCBs, BOMs, and compliance matrices.

Project/Systems Engineering Lead – ensure all technical teams are meeting system requirements and provide status to PMs on technical challenges and solutions.

Communication & Influence Communicates with contacts within and outside of own department and may occasionally have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.). Able to explain and interpret various processes and procedures to others within and outside the job area.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.

9+ years of experience in systems engineering managing complex multi‑assembly systems.

Understanding of thermal, mechanical structures, and cooling systems.

Experience with battery management controls, PCBs, and battery cells.

Strong knowledge of systems engineering processes.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with SRRs, CDRs, PDRs, and TRRs.

Up to 10% local travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.

9+ years of experience in systems engineering focused on battery management systems.

Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software and requirement tools such as DOORS.

Experience with DoD and aerospace standards (e.g., CCSDS, MIL‑STD).

Active security clearance or ability to obtain one. U.S. citizenship is required.
