Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to lead its Geotechnical Engineering services in the telecommunication, energy, utility, and commercial sectors. The ideal candidate will strategically complement existing leadership and better position Delta Oaks Group for its next phase of growth through strengthening current industry contacts, recruitment efforts, technical breadth, operational strategy, and business acumen. This is an opportunity to join the executive team of an established turn‑key engineering firm that has generated 50% revenue and 60% profit growth over the past three years while maintaining above‑industry standard profit margins and increasing head count by 100% during that time.
Responsibilities
Accountable for the fiscal responsibility and sound financial management of the department, developing and implementing practices that increase revenues and decrease costs, and driving revenue generation through client development and retention.
Evaluate existing workflows and processes and determine which require documentation, cross‑training, redesign, or automation.
Maximize utilization of existing resources, equipment, and personnel, making changes as necessary.
Lead the formulation and implementation of a strategic plan that guides the department’s direction and achieves its financial initiatives.
Review and track departmental financial performance and budgets, including communicating and resolving significant variances and authorizing budget expenditures.
Recruit, manage, and retain department personnel, ensuring the team has the right processes and tools to be successful.
Manage department personnel and lead them to success through innovative and efficient procedures and processes.
Oversee the development of standard operating procedures for Geotechnical Engineering services.
Serve as a senior technical resource for department personnel.
Perform quality inspection of deliverables, providing coaching and training as necessary to improve product quality.
Contribute to the sales and profitability of the business through strategic business development.
Develop client relationships, retention practices, and grow and maintain revenue streams.
Maintain awareness of the external and internal competitive landscape, opportunities for expansion, customers, markets, and new industry developments and standards.
Computer Software Experience
In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and advanced Excel functions.
Experience with gINT, SHAFT, and LPile is preferred.
Experience / Minimum Requirements
Minimum of ten years’ progressive experience and demonstrated proficiency in the geotechnical engineering field.
Minimum of five years’ experience in business development and client relations.
Demonstrated experience in leading organizational change.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification that is current and registered in at least one state.
Experience managing geotechnical projects at a holistic level.
Experience in the energy sector is preferred.
If candidate does not have experience in the energy sector, candidate should have experience in telecommunications or other utility‑related industries and possess the ability to develop a business line in those verticals.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client and strategic partner relationships.
