Position Summary As a top cancer care provider in Florida, Orlando Health Cancer Institute is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program serving the region’s adult oncology needs. The institute specializes in more than 200 types of cancer and provides personalized care with state‑of‑the‑art technologies such as advanced radiation, proton therapies, bone marrow transplant, and cellular therapy. Through a robust research program, the institute supports physician involvement in numerous studies and clinical trials, giving patients access to innovative diagnosis, treatment, and symptom‑management options.
The institute is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and has earned additional accreditations in medical oncology, hematology/oncology, radiation oncology, cellular therapy, rectal cancer, and breast care. It was named in the 2023 Becker’s Hospital Review “60 Hospitals and Health Systems with Great Oncology Programs.”
Orlando Health Cancer Institute is part of the larger Orlando Health system, which includes 24 award‑winning hospitals, 9 specialty institutes, 14 urgent‑care centers, 100+ primary‑care practices, and more than 60 outpatient facilities. The system serves over 142,000 inpatient and 3.9 million outpatient visits each year.
Work Location & Schedule Location: 11 Columbia St.
Schedule: Monday – Friday
Responsibilities – Essential Functions
Direct and oversee activities of the research program consistent with strategic goals.
Work with the medical director and research leadership to operationalize new and existing research programs and initiatives.
Provide direct oversight for the Clinical Research Program in alignment with institutional goals, accreditation and Centers of Excellence requirements.
Facilitate collaborations with satellite facilities to promote development of collaborative research programs.
Advise physicians and investigators on institutional and federal guidelines for conducting research at Orlando Health.
Manage contracts and budgets for research activities within corporate, legal, and research operation parameters.
Establish and maintain departmental budgets for research cost centers within the service‑line institute.
Provide financial reports to leadership as requested.
Oversee research revenue and expenses, including accrued revenue from clinical trials.
Manage research managers and supervisors.
Work with medical director and institute faculty to maintain research working groups fully compliant with federal regulations and guidelines.
Establish credibility with basic and clinical research leadership through consultative problem‑solving.
Maintain reliable attendance in line with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and federal, state, and local standards.
Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications Education / Training
Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Policy, Health Sciences Research, Life Sciences, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or Systems Architecture.
Demonstrated ability to understand and leverage the differences between for‑profit, not‑for‑profit, and mission organizations.
Licensure / Certification None.
Experience
Seven (7) years of experience in research operations, clinical trial management, human subjects research, and Good Clinical Practices.
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and institutional administration.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with demonstrated supervisory skills.
