Job Summary The Director of the Academic Advisement Center reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Student Success and leads a team of advisors to design, deliver, and evaluate comprehensive academic advising and career services. The Director provides leadership for integrative advising and career initiatives to support student enrollment, retention, progression, and graduation.

Responsibilities Manage the Academic Advisement Center

– oversee departmental budget, allocate personnel, conduct annual performance reviews, supervise advisors and support staff, develop and mentor new staff, assist in training student assistants and graduate students.

Leadership and Program Design

– develop annual goals, coordinate semester planning, provide vision and oversight for core advising activities, lead innovative strategies using technology, maintain knowledge of institutional programs and policies.

Collaboration and Representation

– represent the department through programming, presentations, committees, and marketing initiatives; collaborate across units on shared goals; develop programs and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and staff.

Lead Project Management

– update and maintain detailed records, manage documentation, lead assessment of programs and services, serve as a lead project manager for coordinating informational systems, maintain records in compliance with FERPA.

Professional Development

– improve advisement skills, participate in professional development opportunities, mentor staff resources, and maintain a personal professional development plan.

Administrative and Program Design

– provide leadership for student success, develop goals and tactics, maintain focus area syllabus, engage in assessment and outcomes data, and promote academic and career advising.

Required Qualifications Master’s degree in higher education, student services, personnel administration, or related area; five years of experience providing comprehensive educational planning and advising services; three years of leadership and supervisory experience developing and directing a professional staff team in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications Experience with advising and career functions (transfer advising, career planning, academic counseling, testing); data tracking and reporting using technology; knowledge of student learning outcomes assessment, educational technology, and retention strategies; experience working with diverse student populations.
